The Potts' of Jefferson County, Kentucky.
FIRST GENERATION
1. John POTTS is alleged to have come from England or to have been of English Descent, removed from Virginia to Kentucky, in the latter part of the eighteenth century, and settled in that part of Jefferson County, Kentucky, afterwards included in Shelby, but now in Oldham County. TMP page 420
# 3, 4 and 5 Three daughters. One married a Bennett. Her son William Bennett was living on the old homestead at Todds Point in 1888, at the age of about eighty years.
He was married to Margaret MARTIN. John POTTS and Margaret MARTIN had the following children:
+2 i. Thomas POTTS.
3 ii. John POTTS. Is said to have settled in Shelby County, Illinois.
SECOND GENERATION
2. Thomas POTTS. The day following his marriage, he entered the army in the War of 1812, and served for eighteen months. He spent his life in Oldham County, Kentucky, and raised a family of seven children. TMP page 420 Children # 11, 12, 13 were daughters.
He was married to Mary RONEY in 1812. Thomas POTTS and Mary RONEY had the following children:
4 i. John POTTS was born in Oldham County, Kentucky. He resided in Owensboro, Davies County, Kentucky.
5 ii. Jesse POTTS resided in Rodds Point, Kentucky. unmarried
6 iii. W. POTTS resided in Worth, Oldham Co., Kentucky.
7 iv. Joseph POTTS was born in 1824 in Oldham County, Kentucky. He resided in Worth, Oldham Co., Kentucky.
