SAMUEL WRIGHT, farmer, P. O. Mount Victory, Hardin Co., Ohio, was born in New York State November 18, 1813. When a mere child, with his parents, Elisha and Rachel Wright, he was brought to Athens County, Ohio, where in April, 1839, he married Miss Deborah Wheeler, daughter of Ezeriah and Rachel Wheeler. By this union there has been an issue of nine children, viz.: Maria A., Mary E., Lucinda H., Samuel L., Edmund E., Joseph N., Jane, Jeannette and Lucy A. In 1848, he came with his family to Union County, and settled on a tract of land in the northern portion of Washington Township, where he still resides. Mr. Wright has seen considerable of pioneer life, and endured much hard work. He is the owner of 100 acres of land, and a member of the United Brethren Church. He was married to Deborah WHEELER on April 14, 1839 in Athens Co, Ohio.

From Evelyn Avery: The marriage of James and Catharine was condemned by the church on May 31, 1766 for their marriage contrary to the discipline of the church. They would have been married for at least a month or two before this. No other information found to determine exact date of marriage. In 1733 he sold his property in Chester County, Pennsylvania and removed with his family, "over the Susquehana," to what is now York County, Pennsylvania, where he was granted a tract of 200 acres on which he settled. He owned other land in the same county. Thomas was a witness at the first Friend's marriage in York County, 29 May 1740, and again, at the marriage of his daughter, Rebecca, "at ye house of William Garretson," in Warrington 22 Aug 1740. About 1759, with wife and younger children, he moved to North Carolina.

When he was a mere boy, he came with his parents and his sister to the Massachusetts Colony. about 1650 he married Elizabeth Deane, d/o Stephen and Elizabeth Ring Deane. Stephen arrived at Plymouth 11/19/1621, aboard the "Fortune," the first ship after the "Mayflower," and built the first corn mill in the Colonies in 1632, After the death of Stephen Deane, his widow married 1635, Josia Cooke, s/o Francis Cooke of the "Maflower." William was admitted as a freeman June 3, 1652; served on the Grand Jury on 1652 and again in 1667-68-71. He was a deacon of the Eastham church as early as 1677, but later left the Congregationalist Church and became a member of the Society of Friends. The friends, or Quakers as they are commonly known, had established their first Meeting in America at Sandwich on Cape Cod, about forty miles from the town of Easthm. After a long and arduous over-land journey the Twining and Doane families arrived at Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1695. They affiliated with the Middletown Monthly Meeting, but were active in several, including Wrightstown and Buckingham. William Twining died 4 Nov 1703; and Elizabeth Deane Twining died 28 Dec 1708. He was married to Elizabeth DEANE.
